Real Madrid Coach Jose Mourinho complained about scheduling after his side's shock loss to Real Betis, whose boss Pepe Mel asked for forgiveness.
"It's obvious that a player who plays on Wednesday shouldn't play today," stated the former Chelsea chief. "Other teams have more control over the schedule than we do."
The result was hugely detrimental to Los Blancos' hopes of retaining the title, but Mourinho insisted the race remained 'wide open'.
Betis counterpart Mel felt the win redeemed his players after their 5-1 thumping in last weeks' Seville derby.
"The players deserve to be forgiven. We’re capable of being spectacularly s*** then beating the best team in the world."
