Jose Luis Mendilibar reminded fans not to be too downbeat about their lowly position, as Mauricio Pochettino admitted he was to blame for the loss.
Goals from Alvaro Cejudo, Kike Sola and Manuel Onwu gave Los Rojillos only their second win of the season, but despite the team staying bottom of the table, the 51-year-old has told supporters not to panic.
“This season is not over in a day or two,” he told a Press conference. “The campaign is a marathon, and there are still many kilometres to go.
“It was a great game from us today though. We didn't concede a goal and managed to get three ourselves. In fact we could have had more.”
Pochettino meanwhile was keen to take the pressure of his players.
“It is normal [for fans to call for my resignation],” he told a Press conference. “I take full responsibility for the result tonight.
“There is an environment that has enveloped the entire club – a bad environment. Today's game was a good opportunity to clear any bad feeling we had, and we haven't taken it.
“The defeat hurts everyone. We have not lived up to expectations.”
