Spanish Police confirm investigation into La Liga robberies

Police in Spain have confirmed they are opening a nationwide investigation following a string of robberies at the homes of La Liga footballers.

Players from across the Spanish top flight have targeted by thieves during the last 12 months, whilst playing away with their clubs.

According to reports in Marca this morning, authorities are now taking action to work together in combating the issue, with security personnel from both Real Madrid and Ateltico Madrid meeting with Police in the capital to discuss an action plan.

Police and security are expected to increase surveillance in certain areas in Madrid, including La Moraleja, Mirasierra and Majahadonda, after beginning patrols in the area already this season.

Police are also advising that players refrained from posting pictures and information on their social media accounts, as well as looking to employ personal security at their homes.

Casemiro's home was broken into during the Madrid derby last month, but the issue is not just limited to Madrid and Barcelona, with Iago Aspas' home in Moana targeted at the weekend.
