Celta Vigo consider sacking boss Fran Escriba

Coach Fran Escriba is on the brink at Celta Vigo after his side crashed to a 2-0 loss at Eibar on Sunday, report Marca.

The Galician side are now without a win in five matches and have won just once in their seven league outings this season, leaving them just one point and one place above the relegation zone.

The biggest concern at the club is that they have scored just four goals across their matches this campaign having also been involved in a relegation battle last season.

The decision is said to lie in the hands of club president Carlos Mouriño who has been in Miami over the weekend and has yet to come to a definitive conclusion on the Coach’s future.

The club’s general director Antonio Chaves and the sporting director Felipe Miñambres are also said to hold sway in the decision over whether or not to retain Escriba.

It is said that should Escriba not be sacked this week, he will not only need to beat Athletic Club Bilbao next week but do so by playing attacking football.

Javi Gracia, Quique Setién and Abelardo Fernandez are said to be the three names on any possible Celta shortlist.
