Andriy Lunin set for Real Madrid exit, linked to Betis

Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin is set to be loaned out by the club this summer to gain first-team football, say Marca.

The Ukrainian has made just four La Liga appearances for Leganes last campaign, but it had been thought he could be afforded more opportunities next season.

He has failed to dislodge the club’s first choice goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar at Butarque last time out but Madrid’s idea is to loan him out to another La Liga side.

Lunin joined Los Blancos last summer in an €8m deal from Zorya but was never likely to be involved in first-team action following the arrival of Thibaut Courtois to compete with Keylor Navas and Luca Zidane.

Navas now looks set to stay at Madrid beyond this summer and despite Zidane’s exit on loan to Racing Santander, Lunin is not likely to be third-choice goalkeeper and will instead seek a move.

Real Betis have been in discussions but they are also hopeful of landing Spain Under-21 goalkeeper Dani Martin from Sporting Gijon.

Madrid’s youth team goalkeeper Diego Altube is likely to be behind Courtois and Navas in the pecking order next campaign.
