Sevilla to land Marseille midfielder Lucas Ocampos

Sevilla are set to seal the signing of Marseille midfielder Lucas Ocampos in a €13m deal, according to a report in Marca.

The 24-year-old netted four goals in 34 appearances for the French club but they may now be set to allow the Argentinian to join the Andalusian club.

The former River Plate midfielder is entering the final year of his contract at Marseille and his midfield versatility is said to be key to Sevilla’s interest.

The pressing issue of the player’s contract is at the heart of Marseille’s interest in listening to offers this summer and a move to Los Rojiblancos is appearing increasingly likely.

Ocampos initially joined Marseille on a loan deal from fellow Ligue 1 club Monaco in January 2015 before penning a permanent contract this summer.

He has since scored 27 goals in 129 first-team appearances for Marseille but spent the 2016-17 in Italy across two loan spells at both Genoa and Milan respectively – where he made 26 appearances in Serie A.

Ocampos featured in last year’s Europa League final defeat for Marseille against Atletico Madrid.

He is set to join the growing list of signings at Sevilla which includes Diego Carlos, Joan Jordan, Mannus Dabbur and Luuk de Jong, with several more set to follow.
