Tottenham want Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is insisting to the club to sign Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, according to Diario AS.

It is reported that Spurs see the former Real Betis midfielder as the ‘perfect replacement’ for Christian Eriksen, who is out of contract in North London last summer.

Ceballos joined Madrid from Betis for €16m in 2017 but has started just 17 times in La Liga and just twice in the Champions League and has often appeared to be a fringe figure.

The Spain international started and scored in March’s 3-2 victory over Huesca – his first home goal for the club – but was selected just once more in the nine matches since.

There is heavy speculation that the 22-year-old will leave the club this summer due to a lack of first-team opportunities and a reported fractured relationship with Coach Zinedine Zidane.

It is said in the report that Ceballos decided he would leave Madrid when the Frenchman returned to the club in March because of a lack of trust.

Spurs playmaker Eriksen has been strongly linked with a move to Los Blancos this summer.
