Sevilla, Real Betis go for Rayo Vallecano’s Alex Moreno

Real Betis and Sevilla are set to go head-to-head in a battle to sign Rayo Vallecano defender Alex Moreno this summer, report Marca.

The 25-year-old has been one of the standout players for relegated Rayo this season and appears likely to depart following their demotion back to the second tier.

Moreno could provide back-up to Betis wing-back Junior Firpo while Sevilla may look to him to give competition to regular left-back Sergio Escuerdo.

Guilherme Arana looks set to leave Sevilla this summer while it appears they will not sign Alberto Moreno from Liverpool, who has now been linked with a move to Benfica.

For Betis, they are short in the wing-back positions with Emerson, who arrived on loan in January, set to join Barcelona this summer.

Moreno has appeared in 35 of Rayo’s 36 league matches to date and generally impressed in a side who have languished near the foot of the table all season.

He has scored one goal and provided two assists this campaign – he was converted from a winger into a full-back in Vallecas.
