Real Madrid’s Marcos Llorente out for a month

Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente is set to miss a month of action with an adductor injury sustained against Barcelona on Wednesday.

The central midfielder had to be replaced by Casemiro in the second half of the 1-1 stalemate while Madrid have now outlined the seriousness of the injury.

“Following the tests carried out today on our player Marcos Llorente by the Real Madrid medical team, he has been diagnosed with a grade 2 injury to his left adductor,” read a Madrid statement on Thursday.

“His recovery will continue to be assessed.”

Coach Santiago Solari introduced the 23-year-old into his line-up over the recent months to replace the injured Casemiro, with his performances widely heralded.

Llorente had been in line for a January loan move to Basque club Alaves but this was scrapped due to his performances, although he sustained a previous adductor injury in training at the start of January.
