Celta Vigo have completed the loan signing of Southampton defender and Dutch international Wesley Hoedt, the club have confirmed.
The 24-year-old was a regular in the Saints first-team since his arrival in the summer of 2017 from Lazio but has not featured prominently under new boss Ralph Hasenhuttl.
The central defender moved to the Premier League in a £15m deal and penned a five-year contract at St. Mary’s but now Celta have an option to buy – for an unspecified amount – in June.
Celta’s website speaks of Hoedt’s defensive qualities as long as his aerial threat from set pieces.
The defender started 13 Premier League games for Southampton this season having featured in 32 league games last campaign.
