Santiago Solari ‘wants a forward’ for Real Madrid

Real Madrid boss Santiago Solari has informed club officials that the squad’s main priority should be to add a new striker, report Marca.

After this week’s Copa del Rey defeat to Leganes (although Madrid progressed 3-1 on aggregate) Solari said Los Blancos did not have a replacement for ‘reference point’ Karim Benzema.

The French forward suffered a hand injury in last weekend’s win at Real Betis while there are also injury layoffs for Mariano Diaz and Gareth Bale.

That has left 18-year-old Vinicius Junior as the main attacking option available for Madrid, have netted just 28 goals in 19 La Liga outings this campaign.

The sale of Cristiano Ronaldo – Madrid’s club record goal scorer – in the summer generated a lot of debate but ultimately no player directly arrived to replace the Portuguese forward.
