Ajax’s Frenkie De Jong ‘chooses PSG over Barcelona’

Ajax midfielder Frenkie De Jong has chosen to join Paris Saint-Germain ahead of Barcelona, according to multiple reports.

El Mundo Deportivo say the Dutch international has ‘broken an agreement’ to join Barca in order to give the green light for a move to the French champions.

Catalan radio station RAC1 also say the Catalan giants are beginning to give up hope of signing the midfielder as they believe PSG will complete a deal this year.

The Amsterdam-based club have reportedly placed a €75m asking price on the head of the midfielder, who has starred for club and country recently.

Manchester City have also been strongly linked for the in-demand midfielder, who has won five caps for the Netherlands, but it appears the French capital is his destination.

De Jong has made 67 first-team appearances for Ajax but his level of performance has ensured he has caught the attention of Europe’s leading clubs.
