Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos reveals ‘bittersweet’ Real Betis return

Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has admitted it was a ‘bittersweet feeling’ for him to score the winning goal against Real Betis.

The Spain international had spent the entirety of his career at the Seville-based club before joining Madrid in the summer of 2017 in a €20m deal, and his return was met with whistles from the home support.

“It’s a bittersweet feeling for me, because I didn’t get the affection of the support who have been my support for so long,” Ceballos told Movistar after the match.

“I have asked for forgiveness because this stadium and club gave me everything, they made me a football and I gave everything there.

“I grew up at Betis and I did not expect the negative greeting, I do not believe I deserved it but it’s time to enjoy the victory.

“Sergio Ramos told me I would score, he gave me the ball to shoot.”
