Keylor Navas sees himself at Real Madrid ‘for many more years’

Goalkeeper Keylor Navas envisages himself staying at Real Madrid ‘for many more years’ despite falling behind Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order.

The Costa Rican was speaking after receiving the Iberoamericana Community Trophy at the Royal Palace in El Pardo in Madrid from the Spanish King Felipe VI.

The former Levante goalkeeper has reportedly agreed a one-year contract extension to his contract, meaning he will remain in the Spanish capital until the summer of 2021.

“When I do not believe I can be first-choice at the club, I will depart,” Navas said upon receiving the award, as cited by Diario AS.

“As a player all I can do is train hard, to perform well when I am given the chance to play and make the most of my opportunities.

“Players always have to be patient and wait for these situations to come up, and I don’t know the outcome (of Thibaut Courtois’ injury) but I need to show I can be there.

“I am always available to play and I am always very keen to participate, that is never in doubt.

“I see myself remaining at the club for many years to come, I will always fight for my place and giving everything I have.”
