Shanghai Shenhua appoint Quique Sanchez Flores

Shanghai Shenhua have appointed experienced boss Quique Sanchez Flores, most recently at the helm of Espanyol.

The 53-year-old has a vast array of managerial experience and was most recently at the RCDE Stadium, from where he was dismissed in April.

He has also previously had stints at the helm of Getafe, Valencia, Benfica, Atletico Madrid, Al-Ahli, Al Ain and English Premier League club Watford.

A statement from the Chinese Super League club read: “We hope they will get familiar with the team as soon as possible through winter training, instil their football techniques and tactics in the players and help the young players in the team grow faster.”

Sanchez Flores will coach the club whose squad contains Fredy Guarin, Obamefi Martins and Demba Ba.
