Cristiano Ronaldo chose Juventus in January – Jorge Mendes

Cristiano Ronaldo had decided to join Juventus from Real Madrid in January and talks for the move took place ahead of the two’s Champions League clash.

The player’s agent Jorge Mendes confirmed details of the €100m move upon receiving Tuttosport’s Best European Player's Agent award.

“He (Ronaldo) told me in January that he wanted to join Juventus, although it seemed impossible to start with, but in the end nothing is impossible,” Mendes told Sky Italia, in quotes carried by ESPN FC.

“The first meeting with Juve management was in Madrid prior to Real-Juve in the Champions League, then there were other telephone calls and slowly but surely, we managed it.

“Credit for bringing him to Turin, though, has to go to their president and directors. He's very happy in Turin. He still has the same motivation as he did the day he started.”
