Marcelo: Real Madrid fans have ‘right’ to whistle

Marcelo conceded Real Madrid fans ‘have the right to whistle when they’re not happy’ after Wednesday’s 3-0 defeat to CSKA Moscow.

“There’s a long time until the knockout stages,” responded the left-back to his side’s Champions League whitewash.

“We always have to improve and we have to change the account we gave of ourselves here. We have to be motivated at the Bernabeu and come out at the top of our game.

“We tried to win, but we can’t concede three goals. The situation isn’t tough for just Isco. The fans talk and it’s clear that we have to change something.

“The fans have the right to whistle when they’re not happy with someone. They also whistled me.

“He’s hurt like I am. We’re a team and we’re going to work so that it doesn’t happen again.

“We’re not calm because we can’t play like we played today and give that account of ourselves. The game didn’t go as we expected.

“You have to fight until the end when you play for Madrid. We didn’t give up, but it’s difficult to come back from 3-0.

“I tried to give the captaincy to Isco and he told me that I had to give it to Carvajal, although I don’t know why.

“We’re here to play and give our best for this club. Now we have to rest and think about next week.”
