Real Madrid ‘restart’ interest in Inter’s Mauro Icardi

Real Madrid have reignited their interest in signing Inter striker and captain Mauro Icardi, according to a report in Diario AS.

The Argentine star is said to have a €110m release clause at the Milanese giants next summer and has been linked to the European champions, who are keen to bolster their attacking ranks.

The fresh report states that Inter’s failure to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League may mean the Nerazzurri may be more open to the idea of a sale.

The 25-year-old is one of Europe’s elite goal scorers and already has 12 goals for the campaign, including four from Inter’s Champions League group.

Icardi previously was in the youth ranks of Barcelona before moving to Italy, where he played for Sampdoria between 2011 and 2013, before joining Inter.
