Barcelona-target Frenkie De Jong ‘does not know’ future club

Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong has denied reports that he has decided upon his future club and he will not leave the Dutch giants this January.

A report in De Telegraaf on Friday stated Paris Saint-Germain had struct a €75m agreement for the in-demand Dutch international, who has heavily been linked to Barcelona.

PSG’s sporting director Antero Henrique was said to be present at the meeting and the Ligue 1 champions are said to have sanctioned a move for the player.

“The only thing that I will say is that there is no agreement yet,” De Jong is cited as saying by ESPN FC, via Canal Supporters.

“No official decision has been taken. All of my attention is on Ajax. I will finish the season here with Ajax and I certainly will not be leaving during the winter break.”

Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag added: “PSG is a very nice club. However, there are many beautiful clubs. Everybody knows that Europe's five or six best clubs are watching Frenkie.”

De Jong is said to have been a prime transfer target for both Barca and Manchester City, although the Parc des Princes was reported to be his favoured destination.

The 21-year-old has won five caps for The Netherlands and has made 63 first-team appearances for Ajax.
