Newcastle linked to Real Sociedad goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli

Real Sociedad are willing to sell goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli to Newcastle United this January to free funds to freshen their squad, say reports.

The Argentine goalkeeper has fallen out of favour at La Real following a prolonged run of below-par form and has often only been named as a substitute since the January arrival of Miguel Angel Moya.

El Gol Digital claims the Basque club are considering a deal for Real Madrid’s out-of-favour goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, who is now third choice at the European champions.

The Magpies are also said to have been monitoring Casilla’s situation but the interest of the San Sebastian club is said to have switched their target.

Rulli joined La Real from Estudiantes in the summer of 2014 and has made 148 first-team appearances for the club, but has started only six La Liga games this campaign.
