Eduardo Berizzo: “If my resignation helps Athletic Club, then it will happen”

Eduardo Berizzo has stated that ‘if my resignation helps, then it will happen’ after Athletic Club’s 3-0 defeat at Levante on Monday.

The Basque giants have not won a La Liga match since the opening day of the campaign and that 13-match winless run has seen the club slip into the relegation zone.

“If my resignation helps, then it will happen,” Berizzo told reporters, as cited by Marca.

“I feel responsible for this situation, I think we have a lot of quality to work with but to find ourselves in this situation is not pleasant.

“If there is a better person to manage this squad, then I will be delighted but the important thing is not me, it is ending this run of results.

“Until we correct our mistakes both offensively and defensively then it does not matter who is in charge, it will be very difficult to get any results.

“I want to tell the fans that I am being positive, that I believe I can turn this around and we can all work together to break this run.”
