Dani Parejo: ‘Valencia excited by Europa League’

Valencia captain Dani Parejo is adamant the club are ‘excited’ by competing in the Europa League after their elimination from the Champions League.

Los Che won the competition – then named the UEFA Cup – lifted the title in 2004 and the midfielder believes ‘there is no point lamenting’ the club’s third-placed finish in their Champions League group.

“The Europa League is a competition which has brought a lot of joy in the past to Valencia,” Parejo told reporters, as cited by Marca.

“It is a competition which excites us and we will enter it with the focus of competing and trying to win it.

“What has happened to us (in the Champions League) is now in the past and there is no point lamenting it, our focus is now on the Europa League and going as far as we possibly can.”

Real Betis, Sevilla and Villarreal are the other Spanish clubs competing in the Europa League this campaign.
