Neto: ‘Valencia past our difficult period’

Valencia goalkeeper Neto believes the team are ‘out of their difficult period’ and never stopped trusting in their own methods.

After just one win in their opening 13 games across all competitions, Los Che have now won four of their last five and have lost just one of their last 14.

“We’re doing well, the results speak to that. We had a difficult period where the results weren’t coming, but we played well,” Neto told reporters at his pre-match press conference.

“The results have changed but our commitment has always been the same. With results the atmosphere changes, the team is growing and we are playing at a very high level.

“I think we could have got important results before too, but the important thing is that we didn’t lose our identity in that difficult spell.

“The most important thing now is to continue like this and raise our level.

“I don’t think I could return to Juventus at a better time, for a match of this level. I’m glad to be here, but I don’t know what could have been.

“I had two years in which I wasn’t happy, I didn’t want to be that way and I’m happy with the choice I made. We hope we can do our best tomorrow.

“Differences between me and Wojciech Szczesny? You’re asking me a difficult question, it’s hard to talk in those terms.

“He’s a goalkeeper with great quality, he’s doing a great job after a great season at Roma. I’ll leave any comments to other people, I hope my qualities will help Valencia get a result tomorrow.

“We want to get a great result because it’s really important. We’ll find a difficult atmosphere and a strong opponent but we have the quality to impose our game.”
