Davor Suker: Croatia want revenge over Spain for 6-0 loss

Croatian FA president Davor Suker has called on his national side to seek revenge for his nation’s 6-0 defeat in Spain two months ago.

The former Sevilla and Real Madrid striker believes the Croats will bounce back from such a heavy loss and be able to reverse the situation in Zagreb.

“All of Croatia was really disappointed by the match in Elche,” Suker told an interview with Diario AS.

“Obviously it did not go to plan and the score-line was an embarrassing loss and that will motivate the players and the Coach to rectify it.

“For the first time since the World Cup we will have our home fans behind us in Zagreb and that will help change our situation and allow us to return to the right path.

“Of course Spain are one of the world’s best sides, Luis Enrique is a world class Coach and we need to expect them to replicate the performance of Elche.

“What we need to do is raise our own level and seek to avenge that loss, this will be a fantastic spectacle between two great sides.

“We need to remember what happened in Russia, a truly beautiful moment for us, it was very emotional and filled us all with happiness.”
