Sevilla boss Pablo Machin criticises ‘slow’ VAR

Sevilla boss Pablo Machin criticised the application of VAR and the time taken to arrive at decisions during his side’s win over Huesca.

Daniel Carrico and Andre Silva had first half efforts ruled out for offside by the technology system but a second half double from Pablo Sarabia saw the hosts win 2-1.

“The stoppages for VAR were too long,” Machin told reporters after the game, as cited by Marca.

“It changes your emotions from one of euphoria to one of resignation, and that can take time to recover from in itself regardless of the stoppage.

“I would much rather we won 2-0 instead of 2-1, because keeping clean sheets is as important to us as scoring goals.

“We did not deserve to concede a goal and we should have had a greater margin of victory, because 2-1 does not reflect what I saw on the pitch.

“Pablo Sarabia was fantastic of course and his contribution of two goals is very important, but I would rather talk about the team than any individuals.”
