Ajax and Netherlands defender Matthijs de Ligt has confessed that he prefers Barcelona to Manchester.
De Ligt played the entirety of Netherlands’ 3-0 Nations League win against Germany on Saturday and, after the game, was quizzed about whether he preferred Barca or Manchester United.
“Ajax! Newspapers need to write, it’s normal,” replied the 19-year-old.
The reporter then asked him to choose between the ‘rain’ of Manchester and ‘sun’ of Barcelona for a weekend getaway…
“Hahaha, Barcelona, I like the sun.”
De Ligt has been heavily linked with a move to Camp Nou for some time and more so recently after injuries to Samuel Umtiti and possibly Thomas Vermaelen.
