Ex-Barcelona star Thierry Henry to become Monaco Coach

Monaco are expected to confirm former Barcelona star Thierry Henry as their new Coach on Saturday.

AS reports Henry has agreed a three-year contract with Monaco after pulling out of talks with English side Aston Villa.

The 41-year-old was Roberto Martinez’s assistant for the final time during Belgium’s 2-1 Nations League win against Switzerland on Friday.

Henry began his playing career at Monaco, turning out for their first team between 1993 and 1999 and winning a Ligue 1 title, as well as the 1998 World Cup with France.

The retired attacker also scored 49 goals in 121 appearances for Barca, lifting two Liga titles and a Champions League, although his best spell came at Arsenal.

Monaco, for their part, were crowned French champions in 2016-17 but find themselves in Ligue 1’s relegation zone, four points adrift of safety and with just one win to their name.
