Atletico Madrid defender Jose Maria Gimenez has been ruled out of Sunday’s La Liga clash against Real Betis with a thigh injury.
The 23-year-old had to be withdrawn from Wednesday’s 3-1 victory over Club Brugges with the injury and has been ruled out for the clash with Los Verdiblancos.
“Jose Maria Gimenez was taken off at half time against Club Brugge due to muscle pain in his left thigh,” read an Atletico statement.
“On the morning of Thursday 4 October, the Uruguayan has undergone an MRI at the Clínica Universitaria de Navarra and the report offered by our medical staff indicates that he suffers an injury in the ischiosural musculature of the left thigh, remaining pending evolution.”
