Real Madrid’s Isco undergoes appendicitis operation

Real Madrid midfielder Isco has undergone a successful operation for acute appendicitis, the club have confirmed.

The talented playmaker will miss his side’s trip to Sevilla on Wednesday and the Madrid derby this weekend, and could be out for as long as a month.

“Our player Isco was operated on successfully for acute appendicitis at the Sanitas La Moraleja Hospital,” read a Madrid statement on Twitter.

“The operation was carried out under the supervision of the Real Madrid medical services. His recovery will continue to be assessed.”

Meanwhile, Julen Lopetegui told reporters: “He had a pain in his stomach this morning and it appeared to be appendicitis.

“Now he has undergone surgery and we wish him the very best for that and wish him a speedy recovery.

“Every injured player is bad news but after wishing a quick recovery we can just think about the solutions and the players we have available.

“We have full faith in the players we have and hope our injured players return quickly.”

Isco has appeared in five games for Los Blancos this season, alongside two internationals for Spain.
