La Liga Preview: Rayo Vallecano-Alaves

Vallecas finally re-opens its doors to host Rayo Vallecano’s home match against high-flying Alaves on Saturday.

Rayo boss Michel on playing at home for the first time in a month: “The team have trained well and there’s calmness around the camp.

“Hopefully we can make it a party and that the necessary security is in place. Little by little everyone’s working towards the dynamic I want.

“We’re still not the Rayo we want to be, but there’s commitment and the lads want to improve.

“I’ll always look for what’s best for the collective and so we can get the three points.”

Alaves boss Abelardo Fernandez on what it is like to play at Vallecas: “Vallecas is special due to its dimensions, and Rayo know that better than anyone else because it’s their stadium.

“We also have to be wary of the kick-off time and heat in Madrid at that time.”
