Real Madrid and Malaga both rejected the chance to sign Atletico Madrid forward Borja Garces, according to a report in El Mundo Deportivo.
The 19-year-old rescued a point for Los Rojiblancos on Saturday against Eibar, coming on for his first team debut as a second half substitute before netting a last minute equaliser.
The forward joined Atleti’s youth ranks in 2016 but the report now clarifies how city rivals Real Madrid along with Malaga rejected the opportunities to land the player.
Garces played for the youth teams on trial for both clubs, while he comes from a Real Madrid supporting family.
