Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui: “Games abroad corrupt league’s equality”

Real Madrid Coach Julen Lopetegui does not support the idea of playing La Liga games abroad as ‘it corrupts the equality of the competition’.

La Liga signed a 15-year deal with company Relevent Sports to play matches in the United States, with a request to play Girona’s league clash with Barcelona in Miami.

“All the teams should be play in the same grounds, that is why the league system is so effective and why it is fair and equal,” Lopetegui told reporters.

“I am not a supporter of the idea at all, for me it is not right and I believe it corrupts the equality of the competition.

“Athletic Club? We have a full squad available for the game and it will be a very difficult game for us, as it is for every club in the division.

“It is a very important game for us, we do not think about rotations for this and this is a game that must be met with the upmost importance.

“Meeting with Hector Herrera? It is not true, I have nothing else to say. I was in Porto but did not see him.”
