French duo pass on Madrid target Pedro

Ligue 1 duo Girondins Bordeaux and Olympique Lyonnais both passed up the opportunity to sign forward Pedro Guilherme, say reports.

The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid but the French clubs rejected the chance to sign him due to ‘expense’, reports France Football.

The €25m-rated forward was called up by his national team for the first time but was forced to withdraw with a knee injury, to be replaced by his former clubmate Richarlison.

The 21-year-old has netted 12 times in 23 matches for the Brazilian club this season and has also been linked to Sevilla, Milan and Roma.

AS previously reported how Guilherme recently extended his deal until 2021 and whilst his release clause was increased to €50m, it is thought half this price should trigger a deal.

Madrid have recently invested heavily in young Brazilians with deals for Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes already secured in the past year.

The European champions are said to be hopeful of concluding a deal this season and subsequently loaning him out.
