Kondogbia joins Central African Republic

Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has been cleared by FIFA to play international football for the Central African Republic.

The central midfielder has won five full international caps for France but none of these came during professional matches, clearing him to switch to the African nation.

The former Sevilla and Monaco midfielder signed a four-year contract at the Mestalla this summer until June 2022, with a release clause of €80m inserted in the deal.

The 25-year-old has played 38 matches for Los Che since arriving from Inter in 2017 while the last of his international caps for Les Bleus came in 2015.

He previously helped France to win the Under-20 World Cup but has been called up by the Central African Republic for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea.
