Sevilla players ‘anxious’ – Machin

Sevilla boss Pablo Machin claimed his players were anxious in their 1-0 Europa League victory over Zalgiris on Thursday.

A superb Ever Banega free-kick proved the difference between the sides at the Sanchez Pizjuan, but the Andalusians will face a stern test to qualify for the next round when they visit Lithuania for the second leg.

“We were too anxious to win the match and gain an advantage, which can lead you to make mistakes and give you a few frights,” Machin told a post-match Press conference.

“We’ll have some time to think about the return and must have respect for the unknown, because going to a stadium such as theirs can throw up all sorts of surprises.”

Machin, however, said he was satisfied with the performance of Aleix Vidal, signed from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

“Aleix was very good. He is intelligent, and although he needs to correct some technical aspects he has done very well.”
