Madrid’s Theo agrees La Real move

Theo Hernandez will complete pre-season with Real Madrid before joining Real Sociedad on a season-long loan deal, say Diario AS.

Last week, Marca reported newly-promoted Premier League club Fulham had lodged a €2m offer for a season-long loan deal in which they would cover the player’s wages in full.

However, Theo wanted to remain in the Spanish top flight and has now found an agreement with La Real, who will pay ‘the majority’ of his wages after an initial offer of just 50%.

The Marseille-born player was signed by Madrid from cross-city rivals Atletico last summer in a deal worth a reported €26m but struggled to break into the first-team.

Hernandez’s preferred option was a move to the Basque club and his agent is the same as goalkeeper Miguel Angel Moya, who is reportedly close friends with the Hernandez brothers from Atleti.

Having spent the 2016-17 campaign on loan at Alaves, the 20-year-old made just 13 appearances for Los Blancos last term and did not get the opportunities he expected.

Theo had been the primary back-up for first choice left-back Marcelo at the Bernabeu last season.
