Levante reject €25m Bournemouth bid

Levante have turned down a bid of €25m from Bournemouth for central midfielder Jefferson Lerma.

According to EFE, Los Granotas consider the offer from the Premier League club to be insufficient for a player who impressed at this summer’s World Cup, where he played all four games for Colombia.

Lerma, signed from Atletico Huila in 2015, extended his contract at the Ciutat de Valencia at the end of last season and has a buy-out clause of €60m.

A holding midfielder, the 23-year-old can also play at right-back, and was the subject of a €19m offer from the Cherries last week.

However, despite the increased bid Levante are sticking to their guns and insist the player will not be allowed to leave in the transfer window, despite the fact it would be a potential record sale for the Valencia-based club.

Even so, reports in Spain suggest Lerma will hand in a transfer request shortly as he believes Levante are denying him his dream of playing in England.
