Juve work on shock Ronaldo deal?

It is claimed Juventus and super-agent Jorge Mendes are working on a stunning deal to take Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

The outlandish rumour is splashed across the front page of Sunday’s Tuttosport, with AS also running the story.

The theory is that Mendes ended an 11-year feud with the Juve hierarchy after he engineered Joao Cancelo’s €40m transfer from Valencia last week.

With their rapport now smoothed over and Ronaldo tipped to seek new challenges after Madrid won three consecutive Champions Leagues, the path would be clear for the Old Lady.

As for Juve, they will be out to end their 23-year Champions League drought next season after seven successive Serie A titles.

Their main target this summer had been Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, but Ronaldo would represent a transformative figure for their global status.

If Lazio want at least €120m for Milinkovic-Savic, who has also been linked with Los Blancos, the Italian giants could instead try to splash out on a fully-formed living legend.

However, Tuttosport has a reputation for going overboard, especially with regards to Juve rumours.

Ronaldo was part of the Madrid team who controversially knocked the Bianconeri out of the Champions League last season but exited the World Cup at the last-16 stage with Portugal on Saturday.
