Athletic Club Bilbao held a ‘definitive meeting’ with Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday for the transfer of defender Yuri Berchiche, say reports.

The full-back switched Real Sociedad for the French capital last summer in a €15m move but now PSG are keen to balance their books for UEFA Financial Fair Play demands.

The French champions are reportedly holding out for €22m for the defender, who has also been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid.

Now Marca report it is the Basque club who are closing in on a deal but should that collapse, the Madrid-based side could capitalise.

Yuri has netted two goals and provided five assists in 32 appearances for the Parisians since his move from La Real to the Ligue 1 champions last summer.

The defender could become the second former La Real defender to join their Basque rivals following Inigo Martinez’s €32m switch in January.
