Alba: I’d stay at Barca forever

Jordi Alba ‘would stay at Barcelona forever’ if it was up to him, despite speculation in the Spanish press regarding his future.

The Spain international is currently with his national team at the World Cup but that has not stopped the transfer rumour mill continuing.

The full-back has a contract at the Blaugrana until the summer of 2020 but has not yet been offered a new deal, which has led to murmurs of a possible departure.

“I’m very happy at Barcelona and if it depended on me, I would stay here forever,” Alba told reporters in Russia, as cited by El Mundo Deportivo.

“It depends on my level of performance and it was very good throughout last season, which was a great campaign for us.

“It depends also on the club’s decision but if it is up to me, I will not be leaving Barcelona.”
