Ruben Castro set for Cordoba switch

Cordoba are favourites to land Real Betis striker Ruben Castro, who is likely to rescind his contract at the club this summer.

The 36-year-old enjoyed a four-month loan stint at Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng where he scored seven times in 11 appearances, before returning to Spain in November.

“Ruben would offer us a lot but we have to combine love and money to convince him,” Cordoba sporting director Luis Oliver is cited as saying by Marca.

The forward, originally from Gran Canaria, has netted a club record total of 148 goals for Los Verdiblancos, whom he joined in 2010.

Castro’s contract at Betis runs through until 2019 but they reportedly held a meeting with Bahia Internacional – who represent the player – this week in order to bring forward that date.
