Oyarzabal ‘proud’ to help La Roja

Real Sociedad winger Mikel Oyarzabal says he is proud to be chosen to help the Spain national team prepare for the World Cup.

The 21-year-old believes he had a good season with La Real and is looking forward to training with Julen Lopetegui’s squad before they travel to Russia.

“I’m proud to help the team prepare for the World Cup in the best way possible and it will be very good to train with the players I’ll be with,” Oyarzabal told Sociedad’s official website.

“The holidays will be a little shorter but I don’t care if it is for this reason.

“I’m happy with the season I had and thought I played well. When you have confidence and the support of your teammates you try harder and things go easier for you.

“Everyone supported me and thanks to them I scored more goals, although the most important thing is the team and it didn’t go as well as we wanted.

“We were very hopeful last season but the Cup affected us a lot and we paid for it for a great part of the year.

“In the last few games the feelings were different, both for us and the fans, so that is important to take into the next campaign,” he concluded.
