‘Leganes best to come’ – Mantovani

Central defender Martin Mantovani is leaving Leganes at the end of the season after he was not offered a new contract.

The Argentine, 33, has been with the Madrid side for five years, having joined when the club was in Segunda B and not playing his first game as a full professional until October 2014.

At a Press conference to announce his farewell, Mantovani maintained that the best days at Butarque are still to come.

“The love I’ve had from Leganes has marked me a lot and I’ve received affection and support for days,” he announced.

“I never thought it could be of that magnitude in terms of the feeling and respect the fans have for me.

“If the people get so involved with you, it’s because I’ve done something right. Leganes’ best years coming and the club is still to grow even more.

“I feel as if I can keep playing and there are possibilities open to me, so it’s important where I go and I’ll try to do my best, as I’ve done here since the first day I arrived,” he concluded.
