Barca agree Lenglet deal

Barcelona have reached agreement with Sevilla for the transfer of central defender Clement Lenglet.

The Frenchman will put pen to paper on a five-year deal at the Camp Nou and has accepted he will have to fight for a place in the team whether Samuel Umtiti – who has a €60m buyout clause – agrees to remain with the Blaugrana or not.

Mundo Deportivo reports that the player’s representative has already met with the Barca hierarchy and validated the conditions proposed by the club, although the fee is understood to be around €35m and not €30m as first thought, and Lenglet is also seen as a long-term replacement for 33-year-old Thomas Vermaelen.

A French Under-21 international, the 22-year-old joined Sevilla from Ligue 1 outfit Nancy in January 2017 for a reported €5m fee.
