Madrid’s Araujo deal breaks down

Real Madrid’s proposed deal for Fluminense forward Ramon de Araujo Siqueira has broken down following a knee injury, say reports in Spain.

The 19-year-old was set to join the European champions this summer and be used in their Castilla team next season, but such a deal now appears to be scuppered.

Marca report the deal was supposed to be an initial one year loan arrangement with a purchase clause of €4-6m inserted.

“Our Under-20 forward Ramon, who was in negotiation with Real Madrid B, was presented with problems in the medical exams (left knee, the same one that was operated on by the club in August 2016),” read a Fluminense statement.

“In conjunction with the players' representatives, the clubs decided the player should return to Brazil to be re-evaluated.”
