Allegri: Officiating eliminated us

Juventus Coach Massimiliano Allegri has lamented refereeing decisions in his side’s Champions League elimination by Real Madrid.

The Italian cited penalty decisions in both legs of their 4-3 aggregate defeat by the European champions, but insists his side now must focus on their domestic title race.

“The referee whistled for this penalty, unfortunately we were eliminated for that reason,” Allegri told JTV.

“We can say that to injury time incidents, the one here and the one in Turin [a penalty not given on Juan Cuadrado], decided the qualification.

“It’s normal to be disappointed and bitter, we have tonight and tomorrow to let off steam amongst ourselves, but after that we have to think about the end of the season, the league to be won.

“Napoli are still waiting for a misstep from us, but on Sunday we have an important match [against Sampdoria] which would allow us to stay ahead of Napoli, with six games to the end.

“On Sunday we really need everyone, from the stadium to the fans, because it’s a match we need to take home.”
