Gimenez tells Betis: “I’ve got this”

Real Betis goalkeeper Dani Gimenez has eased fears of the club’s fans following Antonio Adan’s season-ending injury.

The experienced 34-year-old joined Los Verdiblancos in 2014 but has been understudy to Adan, who has been ruled out of the rest of the season due to needing pelvic surgery.

“The fans should be calm, I am going to give everything and I’ve got this situation,” Gimenez told ABC de Sevilla.

“I understand the doubts as Adan has, without any doubt, been one of the team’s outstanding players for many years and is naturally difficult to replace.

“I have the same enthusiasm now as I did when I was a teenager because I wanted to play and contribute at the top level.

“But now I have that and my experience, I am calm and so should the fans because I will give everything in games and in training.

“I have been prepared well by the staff and coaching team, it’s a great opportunity for me and it just a shame that is at the misfortune of my teammate.

“We are playing for something important in qualifying for European football and we hope it will be a happy ending.”
