Ceballos driven to complete Madrid ‘dream’

Out-of-favour Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos will fight for his place at the club and ‘nobody will take that dream’ from him.

The 21-year-old joined Los Blancos from Real Betis in a €16m deal last summer but has struggled for game-time, starting just two La Liga matches.

“My dream is to become a regular with Real Madrid and nobody will take that from me,” Ceballos told Cadena Copa.

“When you are young and have a lot of ambition, it is not easy to not be playing regularly but I realise that you must be patience.

“When I have had the opportunities and the minutes with Madrid I have tried to maximise them, and don’t want to have any regrets.”

Speaking after Spain Under-21’s 5-3 victory over Northern Ireland at Portadown’s Shamrock Park, the midfielder lambasted the playing conditions.

“We can’t play in this type of pitch, it was only mud and no grass,” Ceballos lamented.

“It was practically impossible to play, it was 0 degrees in temperature and we could only shower with cold water.”
