Athletic ‘agreement’ with Asier Garitano

Athletic Bilbao have reached ‘an agreement’ with Leganes Coach Asier Garitano for a move at the end of the season, say reports.

The 48-year-old has worked wonder at the Madrid-based club over five seasons, earning two promotions and consolidating them as a top-flight side in Spain.

A report in Oye Athletic states he will leave the Butarque club at the end of the campaign to replace Jose Angel Ziganda in the dugout at the San Mames.

Ziganda has come under increasing pressure this season, having replaced Ernesto Valverde last summer, with his side languishing in the bottom half of La Liga and on the brink of elimination from Europe.

The report states Ziganda, a former Athletic Club player and B team Coach, will be retained until the end of the campaign before the announcement is made official.
