Paco Lopez confident on Levante survival

New Levante Coach Paco Lopez is confident he can help steer the club to safety this season after succeeding Juan Muniz in the hot-seat.

The managerial change was made following the club’s 15-game winless run, which has left them just one point and one place above the relegation zone.

“The squad here is committed to the idea of maintaining our status in the top flight,” Lopez, who was promoted from his position in the club’s B team, told his unveiling press conference on Monday.

“I’m very excited about the season run-in because we have a great squad of players with the right level of ability but even more importantly, the right attitude and that is fundamental.

“We have a lot of work to do to achieve our aims but we must change the mood within the dressing room, to make them believe that all matches are possible.

“A lot of work must go in on the training pitch and day-to-day aspects of the club, we must create the right dynamic for success.

“This is a great responsibility for me and I am very exciting to have the honour of coaching the first team here.

“I have been coaching for many years and leading sides at all levels apart from La Liga.

“The Levante fans have been incredible this season and now the team must start giving something back to them.”
